       David H. Elfenbein, M.D., FAAOS

Dr. David H. Elfenbein received a Bachelor of Arts undergraduate degree, Magna Cum Laude, from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA, where he majored in Biology. He continued his medical education at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York, NY, where he was a distinguished member of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society and was awarded his doctor of medicine degree in 1995.

Dr. Elfenbein completed his general surgical internship at New York University Medical Center, New York, NY, in 1996. He remained at The New York University Hospital for Joint Diseases for an orthopedic surgery residency from 1996-2000. While there, Dr. Elfenbein gained invaluable experience as a Clinical Teaching Assistant at the New York University School of Medicine and Assistant Team Physician for the New York University Violets, an NCAA Division II woman's basketball championship team.

In addition to his extensive clinical training, Dr. Elfenbein took an early interest in sports medicine and surgery of the upper extremity while conducting and publishing research in molecular biology (Nassau Fund Grant recipient for undergraduate research in molecular biology). Dr. Elfenbein is published in hand surgery and total joint replacement.

Dr. Elfenbein joined Connecticut Family Orthopedics in 2000 as an Orthopedic Surgeon specializing in sports medicine and surgery of the upper extremity. In addition, he has extensive experience in total joint replacement. Dr. Elfenbein is board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons and is a member in good standing of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the Connecticut State Medical Society, the Connecticut State Orthopedic Society and the Fairfield County Medical Society. He is currently the Secretary of the Medical Staff at Danbury Hospital and is Vice President of Maimonides Academy of Western Connecticut, a local private school.

He has maintained a license in good standing to practice medicine and surgery in the State of Connecticut since 2000.
