Dr. Schweitzer has been practicing orthopedic surgery in Danbury, Connecticut since 1979. We at Connecticut Family Orthopedics are honored to have him as our Managing Partner. Although trained as a surgeon, his approach is always conservative. With his patients he explores all non-operative alternatives first. His patients always participate in the surgical decision in an informed way- and only after having weighed the pros and cons of all the available choices.

Having received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Boston University, Dr. Schweitzer graduated with Distinction from the medical school of the Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium. He completed an externship at Downstate Medical School in New York and satisfied his internship and residency requirement in orthopedics at Dalhousie Medical Center in Nova Scotia. He has the unusual distinction of being both a Diplomat of the American Orthopedic Board of Orthopedic Surgery and a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada.

Dr. Schweitzer's practice encompasses the breadth of general orthopedics with special interests in adult reconstructive surgery of the hip and knee, arthroscopy of the knee, and trauma. He has operating privileges at Danbury Hospital and the Health South Surgical Center. He has served on the Hospital's Trauma Committee and belongs to the Connecticut State Medical Society, the Fairfield County Medical Association, and the Danbury Medical Society.
